My previous post has a link to a story at CNN.com that basically says the gas shortage in Nashville is because of a rumor. It also states that the problem is isolated to Nashville.
From the article:
The phenomenon seemed to be isolated to the Nashville area...
Well, the last time I checked CNN was located in Atlanta and check out this story from Atlanta.

and I just went out for a little while. Out of at least 15 gas stations only 1 had gas and the line was incredibly long.
The gas station across the street just received a gas delivery. The station did not open today because they didn't expect to have gas until much later. Apparently the clerk left the pumps on since Friday. OOPS! Chaos has begun.
The Peace Makers have arrived!!!

What's with the Nashville gas shortage?
This sign at a Nashville, Tennessee gas station says it all.
The gas crisis in the United States is a lot worse than most think.
Last weekend, my sister described a gas frenzy near her home outside
Knoxville, Tennessee. This week, the problem seems to be in Nashville...
Update 2: In less than 45 minutes pumps #2 and #4 are empty and #1 and #3 only have super premium left. The police just left. I wonder if they are going to another station that just got a delivery?
Panic Grips Area During Gas Shortage
AAA: Gas Won't Return To Normal For 1 Week
NASHVILLE -- Many communities gripped by a gas shortage were in panic mode over the weekend, and bad news from AAA did not help to calm them.
AAA said Saturday that supplies may not return to normal until late next week, but until then, they said everyone needs to deal with the crisis in a reasonable manner.
The latest updated comes the day after Gov. Phil Bredesen stated that the colonial pipeline that provides much of the area's supply was at 100 percent capacity.
AAA stated that the pipeline is still experiencing interruptions due to power problems caused by Hurricane Ike.
The higher demand, reserve tanks were drained...
...The manager at one "Daily" gas station said that her bosses sent out a companywide e-mail promising that trucks were on the way with gas and would arrive either Saturday or Sunday. She said she later heard that there were more issues with a pipeline, which she knew meant more long lines...
Unemployment Rate Rises to 6.1%
By MICHAEL M. GRYNBAUM
Published: September 5, 2008
The unemployment rate jumped to 6.1 percent in August, its highest level in five years, as the erosion of the job market accelerated over the summer.
Employers cut 84,000 jobs last month, more than economists had expected, and the Labor Department said that more jobs were lost in June and July than previously thought.
So far, 605,000 jobs have disappeared since January. The unemployment rate, which rose from 5.7 percent in July, is now at its highest level since September 2003...
...Manufacturing jobs were hammered again in August, with 61,000 workers losing their jobs. Nearly 60,000 administrative workers, including secretaries and temp workers, were laid off.
Gains came in the education and health care industries, which added a total of 55,000 jobs. But those gains were offset by loses at restaurants, auto dealers and factories that make parts for cars and other transportation equipment...

Sen. Stevens indicted: 7 false statements counts
By Lara Jakes Jordan – 2 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and a figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, was indicted Tuesday on seven counts of failing to disclose thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home.
The first sitting U.S. senator to face federal indictment since 1993, Stevens has been dogged by a federal investigation into his home renovation project and his dealings with wealthy oil contractors.
The investigation has upended Alaska state politics and cast scrutiny on Stevens — who is running for re-election this year — and on his congressional colleague, Rep. Don Young of Alaska, who is also under investigation...
...Matthew Friedrich, chief of the Justice Department's criminal division, said prosecutors followed the department's policy to keep politics out of the decision-making process.
"We bring cases based on our evaluation of the facts and the law," Friedrich said. "We bring cases when they are ready to be charged and that's what happened here."
Prosecutors said Stevens received more than $250,000 in gifts and services from VECO Corp., a powerful oil services contractor, and its executives. From May 1999 to August 2007...
...Justice Department said Stevens will not be arrested and will be allowed to turn himself in...
...Under Senate rules, Tuesday's indictment will require Stevens to give up his post as senior Republican on the Appropriations Committee...
...Prosecutors said Stevens "took multiple steps to continue" receiving things from oil services company VECO Corp., and its founder, Bill Allen. At the time, the indictment says, Allen and other VECO employees were soliciting Stevens for "multiple official actions ...
...The Justice Department has closely followed that money, looking for where it intersects with the senator's son, Ben.
A lobbyist and former state senator, Ben Stevens was paid as a consultant for many in the fishing industry who benefited from legislation his father drafted. When Ted Stevens created a $30 million marketing fund for Alaska seafood, Ben Stevens helped decide which companies got the money. Some were his clients.
Ben Stevens also had financial ties to a company that stood to make millions off a piece of federal legislation his father wrote...

Gray wolves in the Northern Rockies are being removed from the
endangered species list, following a 13-year restoration effort that
has seen the animal's population grow to approximately 1,500. Their removal from the
endangered list was announced Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, by the U.S.
Department of Interior.
This fight isn't over but it could be the beginning of the end. Since the late 1980s, approximately 700 wolves have been killed by ranchers and state and federal wildlife agents in response to livestock conflicts. I guess the wolves are smarter than the ranchers, so in the grand tradition of the Wild Wild West we will just kill them
Wolves to Be Removed From Species List
By MATTHEW BROWN - 1:30 est February 21, 2008BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Gray wolves in the Northern Rockies will be removed from the endangered species list, following a 13-year restoration effort that helped the animal's population soar, federal officials said Thursday.
An estimated 1,500 wolves now roam Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. That represents a dramatic turnaround for a predator that was largely exterminated in the United States in the early 20th century.
"We're confident the wolf has a secure future in the Northern Rocky Mountains," said Interior Assistant Secretary Lyle Laverty in a statement. Federal officials planned a news conference later Thursday.
The loss of federal protection allows the three states to move forward with plans allowing hunters to target the animals, possibly as soon as this fall.
Environmental groups said Thursday they will sue the federal government to keep the animal listed.
"The enduring hostility to wolves still exists," said Earthjustice attorney Doug Honnold, who is preparing the lawsuit. "We're going to have hundreds of wolves killed under state management. It's a sad day for our wolves."
State officials have been eager to gain greater control over managing wolves, which have increasingly preyed on livestock as they expand into new territories. Since the late 1980s, approximately 700 wolves have been killed by ranchers and state and federal wildlife agents in response to livestock conflicts.
