the new order doesn't extend full health care benefits or pensions for partners...

That about sums it up. You know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

EDIT ~~five~~ two minutes after post: No I'm not calling Obama a pig, I'm rather fond of him. I'm calling the policy what it is, get a grip.

WTF! I'm so disappointed in him, Kev. Sidebar: We just did open enrollment for benefits at my workplace. New this year: Full benefits for same-sex couples. There's some extra paperwork involved (whereas opposite sex couples can click a few buttons online and be done) but as far as I could tell, that's the only difference. Neat.

I'm on Myke's insurance at Vanderbilt, the only difference is he still has to pay taxes on the money they take out for my health insurance (federal law only allows for a man and woman marriage to be tax free)

I'm very grateful that Vanderbilt offers the benefit and kudos to your company. They are doing as much as the law will allow. We need more brave businesses and corporations. Slow and steady wins the race but I'm ready for Indy speed on some of these issues :>)

I just keep hoping that Obama means it when he says "this is only the beginning".
